Christian Thuesen
Head of Design
Christian is a NSW Registered Architect, Design Practitioner and U.S. Marine Corps veteran with over 20 years of design and construction experience across Germany, Australia, and New Zealand. Before co-founding Merg, he held senior leadership positions in internationally recognised architectural practices, with his major works leadership contributing to architectural awards including the 2021 Sydney Lord Mayor’s Award and 2025 NSW Architecture Awards.
His portfolio encompasses a wide range of projects. From boutique commercial and residential fit outs and developments to complex, large-scale public works. Having led numerous projects from strategic business cases through to design development and construction, he combines strong client relationships with a practical, hands on approach.
Phillip Gangi
Head of Construction
Phillip is a registered builder and carpenter based in New South Wales, bringing over a decade of experience across bespoke residential, commercial, and public sector projects. Phillip began his journey on the tools, where he cultivated a deep appreciation for detail, structure, and quality workmanship. This early foundation shaped a practical and results-oriented approach that continues to guide his leadership today.
Phillip brings a rare mix of technical skill and operational foresight. Every project under his watch is built to spec, executed with clarity, and delivered with purpose. He anticipates challenges, aligns the team, and keeps every detail on track turning plans into flawless results
